Build

Footer

Design your site footer in Elementor, including widget areas.

The footer works exactly like the header: a Global Block of type Footer, assigned once.

Building a footer, start to finish.
  1. Create the blockNovaSpark → Global Blocks → Create Block, with Section Type set to Footer.
  2. Publish and open ElementorThen design it like any page.
  3. Build the columnsA Container with three or four inner containers is the usual shape — about, links, contact, newsletter.
  4. Add a bottom barA second Container underneath for the copyright line and social icons, using NovaKit Social Icons.

Use a Dynamic Tag for the year. On a copyright text element, click the dynamic icon and choose Current Date/Time. The year then updates itself every January instead of quietly going stale.

Assigning it #

Theme Options → Footer → Default Footer, and pick your block. For a different footer on part of the site, give a second footer block Display Conditions.

With none assigned, NovaSpark draws a plain built-in footer. Developers can replace it by overriding template-parts/fallback/footer.php in a child theme.

Widget areas in a footer #

Designing the footer in Elementor covers most needs, but if you want a WordPress widget area — so a client can change its contents without opening Elementor — create one first at Theme Options → Sidebars, then place it with Elementor’s own Sidebar widget. See Sidebars.
