Getting started

Licence & updates

Turn on automatic updates with a licence key. NovaKit works fully without one — a key only changes how updates reach you.

NovaKit works without a licence key. Every feature, every widget, every setting. A key changes one thing: whether WordPress tells you a new version is available. Without one you update by downloading the latest file and uploading it yourself.

There is no trial, no expiry that stops the plugin working, and nothing that switches off if a key lapses. A site that was running yesterday keeps running.

Getting your key #

Your key is issued against your purchase. If you bought NovaSpark on ThemeForest, you generate it from your Envato purchase code.

Find your Envato purchase code

  1. Sign in at ThemeForest.
  2. Open the menu under your avatar and choose Downloads.
  3. Find NovaSpark in the list.
  4. Click Download beside it and choose Licence certificate & purchase code (either the PDF or the text file — both contain the same code).
  5. The purchase code looks like 8f3b21c4-5d6e-47a9-b0c1-2e3f4a5b6c7d.

A purchase code is not a licence key. They look similar and they are not interchangeable. The purchase code proves you bought the theme; you exchange it for a licence key, and it is the licence key that goes in the Dashboard.

Exchange it for a licence key

  1. Go to unistudio.co/licence.
  2. Paste your purchase code and the email address you want the key sent to.
  3. Your licence key arrives by email. It looks like NK-A1B2-C3D4-E5F6.

One purchase, one key. Keep the email — the key is shown in full only once, and the Dashboard shows a masked version afterwards so a support screenshot never gives it away.

Bought directly, or had a site built for you? Your key comes from us with the handover. If you cannot find it, open a support ticket with the email address on the purchase.

Entering your key #

  1. In WordPress, go to NovaKit → Dashboard.
  2. Find the Automatic Updates card.
  3. Paste your key and press Activate.

The indicator in the corner of that card turns green and reads On. From then on NovaKit updates like any other plugin — a notice in Plugins, and one click to install.

Staging and development copies. Use the same key. We record which sites a key is used on so we can help when something looks wrong, but nothing is blocked by the count — a staging copy of your own site is normal and expected.

If it does not work #

What you seeWhat it means
That key was not recognised Usually a purchase code pasted instead of a licence key, or a partial copy. Check for a missing character at either end.
This key has expired Time-limited keys are issued for some client projects. NovaKit keeps working; only automatic updates stop. Contact us to renew.
Could not reach the licence server A network problem, ours or your host’s. Nothing is lost — an already-active licence stays active and the check retries on its own.
No update appears, but the key is valid WordPress caches update information for up to twelve hours. Press Re-check on the Automatic Updates card to ask again now.

Updating without a key #

Entirely supported, and nothing nags you about it:

  1. Download the latest NovaKit Core from your ThemeForest downloads, or from the link in your purchase email.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the ZIP and press Install Now, then Replace current with uploaded.

Your settings, demos and content are untouched — a plugin update replaces the plugin’s own files and nothing else. Taking a backup first is still good practice.
